Biography
I studied psychology and philosophy at Oxford University where I had the good fortune to be tutored by the pioneering social psychologist Michael Argyle. After leaving Oxford I became interested in computers and joined IBM as a computer instructor, teaching courses in Europe and the Middle East. I went on to run a series of instructor training workshops.
Then an opportunity arose for me to train as a facilitator for IBM's personal skills development workshops. As part of my training for this role I went to California for 'T-group' training and also attended workshops in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis and various other developmental theories and techniques.
After leaving IBM to become an independent consultant, the company remained my main client and I continued to design and run personal skills development workshops for them for a number of years. Since then I have been working with individual
private clients as a psychologist and counsellor.
I have had articles published in a number of professional journals, including The Psychologist, Personnel Management and the British Journal of Educational Technology.
In recognition of my work for IBM I was elected an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society. I am registered at the Health and Care Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist and Occupational Psychologist.
