Methods
We don't see the world as it is, but as it is revealed to us by our ways of looking at it. Over the years we all get stuck in faulty patterns of thinking and behaving often without being aware of them. I will help you to become more aware of how your mind is working and give you better control over it.
At your first session I will explore your reasons for seeking help and discuss any problems you are currently experiencing. This will lead to us jointly agreeing an action plan for you.
I use a range of traditional and modern approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), creativity exercises, assertiveness training, the development of emotional intelligence and relaxation techniques. The aim is to help you to understand more clearly both what you are good at and why things go wrong and to give you new and better ways of thinking, behaving and problem-solving.
Each session lasts around an hour and you will also be given 'thought exercises' to do and techniques to try in your everyday life. The ultimate goal is to give you self-knowledge, insights and techniques to enable you to bring about positive change for yourself, and to support you during the process.
